Before we talk about the amazing day Dan and Lydia had this weekend, I think we need to take a quick step back in time to where it all began. :)
A little over a year ago, in Summer 2018, Stephen and I had the honor of photographing Abby and Jim McClary's wedding in Hillsboro, KS. Abby and Lydia are sisters. Jim and Daniel are best friends. And it was because of this wedding that they got to know each other a little more. See if you can spot them:
Only two weeks after that wedding was it that things started kicking off between them. Which leads us into December 7, 2019. :) Isn't it so cool how the Lord can bring two people together?? Stephen and I were over the moon that we captured the bookends to their dating relationship and the beginning of their life as husband and wife.
So without further ado, here is how the day went from our perspective...
There were votes going around the whole morning on if Daniel would cry the moment he saw Lydia in her dress... And he surprised himself when he did, in fact, get teary.
When Lydia showed him the back of the dress, to say he loved it would be an understatement. 😄
While getting the last few wedding party portraits, guests started to arrive. We couldn't believe it was almost time for the ceremony!
Guests were greeted by ushers who had them sign a frame for the couple, and then head inside the sanctuary. The moment to become Mr. and Mrs. Byers had come!
After coffee was served while the family was getting portraits done, we headed downstairs where Faspa was served (a low-German, Mennonite term for "light supper," and if you've never had it, you're missing out!). In the background, Christmas tunes and hymns were played as guests mingled. It was the perfect environment for catching up, taking photos with friends, and giving blessings to Dan and Lydia.
Congratulations on a fun day!! You all made us feel like part of the family as we photographed you all. We can't wait to send you more pictures so soon! We love you both; blessings as you start this new season together!
